Open source · Free to use
Take your Tumblr posts
out of the platform.
rock-tumbl converts your Tumblr export into Standard.site documents — own your archive instead of leaving it locked in by big tech.
What it does
Tumblr exports
Drop in the ZIP from Tumblr — nested posts.zip archives are descended into automatically.
Standard.site documents
Text, photo, quote, chat, audio, video, and ask posts become site.standard.document records.
Media upload
Referenced images and media can be uploaded to your PDS with links rewritten.
AT Protocol publishing
Create the publication record and publish documents straight to Standard.site.
Private posts stay private
Private and draft posts are excluded by default — include them only if you ask.
How it works
- 1 Export from Tumblr
Download your blog export as a ZIP from Tumblr.
- 2 Upload your export
Drop in the ZIP and add your publication URL or AT URI.
- 3 Convert
rock-tumbl parses your posts and builds Standard.site documents.
- 4 Download or publish
Download the documents as JSON, or publish them to your PDS.
Ready?
Upload your export — files are converted on the server and deleted afterwards.

rock-tumbl is free, and staying that way
No ads, no accounts, no tracking — just a tool that does the job and gets out of the way. If it saved you an afternoon, chipping in helps keep it maintained.
Rather not? Star the repo or a word to someone who'd use it helps just as much.
